What is the CompTIA Strata?

The CompTIA Strata IT Fundamentals certification offers individuals a broad introduction to computing technology and serves as a critical stepping stone to advanced technical learning and IT skills and shows that you have the knowledge to identify and explain PC components, setup a basic PC workstation, conduct basic software installation, identify compatibility issues and recognise/prevent basic security
risks.

The CompTIA Strata is great for IT novices who need a broad, fundamental understanding of IT and who want to learn the basics of computers, networking, LANs and WANs, data centers and data storage, and how IT infrastructures are monitored and managed. Ideal candidates include:

• Entry-level and newly hired technical professionals, including PC support, help desk, and networking professionals.
• Sales and marketing professionals looking to increase their ability to communicate with technical professionals and increase sales.
• Managers and Executives who seek better-informed decision making.
• Beginners seeking fundamental knowledge in preparation for later certification courses.

The CompTIA Strata certification consists of only one exam, the FC0-U41; This exam covers the explanation of technology and computer hardware basics, compatibility issues and common errors, software installation and functions, security risks and prevention. The exam will also assess the candidate's knowledge of Green IT and preventative maintenance of computers. The FC0-U41 is made up of the following five topics:

• Technology and Computer Hardware Basics - 40%
• Compatibility Issues and Common Errors - 13%
• Software Installation and Functions - 11%
• Security - 16%
• Green IT and Preventative Maintenance - 20%
